Suspect Sought for Igniting Walker, WV, House Fire

Firefighters from Waverly and Deerwalk said the house was destroyed by fire.

Wood County authorites are searching for suspect in an attempted murder and arson.

After stabbing his mother, Charles Clinton Hess IV returned to the property and is believed to have set the house on fire.

Firefighters from Waverly and Deerwalk declared the house a total loss, WTAP reported. 

“Our next step is the state fire marshal’s office, Wood County FIT team and our detective at the scene of the fire. They’ll attempt to make an origin, cause or determination to find out if it’s possible of how the fire was set or the cause of that fire,” said Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard.
